My front porch is one of my favorite places to decorate! I don’t know if it’s because I know it is one of the first things people see when they arrive (& I want to make a good impression!) or what but, I always have fun putting it together. As I’m going through decorations deciding what should go where, I typically begin a pile in different areas for that particular space. That way I can see everything together and have an idea for what that space will look like. This year’s Christmas porch took on a bit of a rustic look and I loved it!
I decided to keep the buffalo check rug out (that I also used in the Fall) to tie in with some of the buffalo check decor that I used inside. I love how the rugs ended up going together with the pops of red and green.

I also decided to keep our “Welcome” sign up as well. It went with the black & white theme that was going on and well, I just like the sign! Sometimes it’s ok to keep things up just because you like them! The “JOY” sign lights up at night and is a DIY project form a couple of years ago. The letters came from Target and Matt nailed together the three boards and painted it red. The letters each hang on a nail and can be removed each season for storage.

I added the lantern with large, glittered ornaments, two mini Christmas trees and the faux flocked wreath that I snagged from Wal-Mart for $9.99 to complete the porch. The wreath is such a steal for that price and the quality of the flocking and how thick it is. If you find them still available in your store, I highly recommend picking one up… or two.

I love the way the front porch turned out this year – simple & rustic. I hope that it makes guest feel welcome as they arrive and puts a smile on their face as they leave.
