Admittedly, since the Christmas decor came down, our front porch had been looking a bit drab. Jack had been enjoying the use of my grandma’s old milking stool to step up on and ring the doorbell in the afternoons when we got home though. You know, to wake up the dog in his crate and really get him excited that we’re home! #lifewithathreeyearold But, we finally had some nice, Spring-like weather a couple weekends ago and I too had finally gathered all of the items I wanted to go on the front porch – including my DIY Welcome sign that had gone horribly wrong! That is another story for another day and thankfully I was able to salvage the project! Anyways, it was high time for a Spring front porch refresh!
As mentioned in this post, we were also due for a new front door wreath so, that is where I started at with the decor.
Confession: these are faux flowers!! I do not have a green thumb and so often plants or flowers end up dying because I forget to water them. It is certainly a curse and sad future for any florals I bring home. So, I picked up these faux bushels at Hobby Lobby as well as the olive bucket. I stumbled upon it during one of their metal sales and had to bring it home. {The flowers are staying put together in a mason jar that I arranged them in.}. I absolutely love the milking stool as it belonged to my Mimi and has been around for as long as I can remember!
This Welcome sign was a labor… of love. And determination. While the sign is not perfect, I love how it turned out and how well it goes with the lanterns. I also put some faux greenery inside the lanterns as fillers. Our house sits facing directly West so, there was no way any sort of candles were going to survive hours of direct sunlight daily.
While I didn’t initially intend to create a black and white them, I absolutely love it! It would be easy to keep this same feel going and change out the flowers and bow on the wreath to coordinate with the different seasons and celebrations throughout the year. Which is likely what you’ll see happen here as well!
